A boater’s paradise
With many homes situated directly on the bay or on deep-water canals, Bird Key is an exclusive enclave of 500 single family homes. It is entirely residential without commercial properties or condominiums.
Bird Key is a fashionable island neighborhood with breathtaking views from sparkling sunrises to striking sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. At night, the expansive Sarasota skyline glistens on the shimmering Sarasota Bay. Residents of Bird Key appreciate the privacy and security of single family homes, proximity to world-class shopping, fabulous beachfronts, and a private yacht club.
The Bird Key Yacht Club is an outstanding yacht club on Florida’s West Coast. It offers exceptional formal and casual dining in venues with stunning views of Sarasota Bay and the Sarasota skyline. The Club is located only minutes from St. Armands Circle and Lido Beach in one direction, and downtown Sarasota in another. It provides the Bird Key community a unique social, dining, and recreational experience for members and their friends.
History aficionados will appreciate Bird Key’s beginnings which involve circus great, John Ringling. Ringling purchased Bird Key, St. Armands, and Lido Key in the early 1920’s and built the Ringling Causeway from the mainland for easier access. He bequeathed the land to his sister, Ida Ringling North, in 1936. After her death in 1950, the island was enlarged. Today, the Bird Key Yacht Club sits on the site of the first home ever built on Bird Key.
